Allahabad Museum every year organizes Lecture series in the memory of renowned art critic Dr. AK Coomaraswamy. This year Dr. AK Coomaraswamy Memorial Lecture was delivered by Padmashree Dr. Geeta Chandran, a world renowned Bharatnatyam Dancer today in the evening at the open air Theater of Allahabad Museum. Her performance was based on the “Dance of Shiva” a book written by Dr. Coomaraswamy itself. The significance of this event becomes more relevant in current scenario as Dr. Coomaraswamy was the first critic and personality to present the Indian Art and Culture infront of the world. He explored, explained and communicated the philosophical and aesthetic sense of Indian Art to the world thus bringing the global attention towards Indian Art and this lecture series proves to be catalyst in igniting the eager and sense of responsibilities among individuals to come forward for the preservation, promotion and popularization of Indian Art in different arena.
The program was presided by Shri. Rajan Shukla, Commissioner, Allahabad Region and member, Allahabad Museum Society along with Shri. Rajesh Purohit, Director – Allahabad Museum and Prof. MM Das, Former HoD, University of Allahabad and Guest of Honor of the evening, were on dice in the presence of guests and officials of Allahabad Museum. The lecture of Dr. Chandran was focused on the various dance styles of Lord Shiva as described in the book written by Dr. AK Coomaraswamy and she has done justice with it by her gracious performance. It was felt as if she had added the life in the book. During lecture her disciple Ms. Amrita Sruthi was also present.
In his address Shri. Purohit welcomes all the guests present and recalled the history of this memorial lecture series and told that in past this stage is also graced by Padma Vibhushan Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasiya, Padmabhushan Javed Akhtar, Dr. Devangna Desai and Padma Vibhushan Dr. Sonal Man Singh and Dr. Chandran had continued the legacy.

Bal Saptah – 2015

In continuation to meet our objective to inspire, groom and provide platform to budding artists; especially children, we have organized a one week program Bal Saptah from 14 – 21 Nov, 2015 that featured different competitions namely; Poem Recitation, Shrimad Bhagwat Shloka Recitation, Art Painting, Quiz: Exploring India, Elocution: New Dreams of India, Poster Making: Beti Bachao, Beti Badhao, Musical Chair, Clay Modeling, Science Model, Folk Dance and Classical Dance under various categories that witnessed more thousands of child participants from Allahabad District and its nearby regions.
